So, my partner has been begging me to make his favourite pasta over the last couple of months. When we first started dating, this was one of the only things I knew how to make that actually tasted GOOD, and he loved it. For the original recipe, I used canned tomato sauce and then added my own touch to it. But this recipe I am about to share is a total recreation of that first recipe that he fell in love with. Saffron. It is one of those exotic ingredients that tends to mystify me. I’ve only ever had it in a handful of dishes, and everytime I’ve tried it, it has completely transformed the flavour of the dish. I am looking forward to experimenting with this unique ingredient in recipes to come. For today, I wanted to share this warm, frothed milk with saffron & cardamom. This lovely little elixir is traditionally consumed in India as a breakfast beverage.

I’ve been yearning for spring and summer lately. The winter always feels so long, even though we haven’t had much of a winter this year. It feels like we are in this weird, in-between stage of fall/winter/spring here. I don’t even know how to describe it. I’ve had spring/summer produce on my mind these days, specifically watermelons…Inspired by all these wandering images of watermelons and summer vegetables floating around my brain, I came up with this watermelon radish, fennel & mandarin salad. I managed to get some watermelon radishes from the organic market I work at after convincing our produce manager to bring them in just for me! (mwhaha!)

How much do I love breakfast food? Way too much! I realized recently that the majority of the recipes I’ve posted on my blog have been (unintentionally) breakfast related recipes, because that is how much I love the first meal of the day.

As I was brainstorming for new recipes this weekend, I discovered that I haven’t made granola in a very long time. I used to make granola in different variations all the time, and then all of a sudden, it went out of style for me and I moved on to obsessively making something else, and forgot all about how much I love making granola.
